CINEMA ON THE BAYOU ANNOUNCES OPENING NIGHT FILM AND GALA AND AVAILABILITY OF ADVANCE TICKET PURCHASES

The 10th Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival, which will present more than 100 films from around the world, is pleased to announce that this year's Festival will open on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at Acadiana Center for the Arts with the Louisiana Premiere of the mulit-award winning narrative short film ONE ARMED MAN.

The film is based on a play by Horton Foote, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Oscar-winning screenwriter of To Kill a Mockingbird.  It was directed by Tim Guinee, and stars Charles Haid, Terry Kinney and John Magaro.

The film tells the story of a wealthy cotton gin executive who is confronted by a disgruntled former employee demanding the return of his arm lost in the gin's machinery.  It has received much praise:

"I have been in many of Horton Foote's films, including Tender Mercies,

and this film is as well made as any of them."  -- Robert Duvall

"Beautifully written, beautifully acted.  It's a stellar piece of work

and people should see it."  -- Matt Damon

A GALA PARTY will follow the film at 8:00 p.m., with our visiting filmmakers from around the world. Music will be provided by SWEET CECILIA and food by JOHNSON'S BOUCANIERE.  There will be a cash bar.
