Ilyana offers a last souvenir to Erica on the final day of their year junior year abroad, sparking a discussion of values and identity with their futures on the line.
"Ex Patria" is a short film that completes a film trilogy about the lives of two women. The first short was "The There", which screened at COTB in 2016. It was about the characters when they were about 30. The second short, "Ilyanica", screened at COTB in 2018 and was about the characters when they were in their late 40s. "Ex Patria" covers a critical incident when the characters are 20.
Director Scott Cobb, a COTB alum, plans to attend the film screening.
