FEATURE DOCUMENTARY

This film depicts the blossoming of more than a hundred young musicians in Barcelona who play in the WTF Jam Sessions, an explosion of music that takes place very Monday in the Jamboree Jazz Club. It's 2012, and Spain is suffering intensely from the financial crisis. Weekly protests are the norm. Meanwhile, at the notorious Jamboree Jazz Club of Barcelona, young musicians take a stand against the despair and improvise openheartedly, be it jazz, hip hop, or electronica, as part of the WTF Jam Sessions. Still, the crisis looms and WTF is close to disappearing. For the 80-year-old Pere Ferrer this news does not come by surprise; he has inaugurated and ended many clubs. Along with Wally Besser, they are the only survivors of Jamboree's first live band in 1949. In this story, the seniors offer a fresh perspective, comparing the struggle of modern musicians to that of the jazz scene in Barcelona under the dictatorship of General Franco, oppressed and restricted in other ways. Past and present mixes in this documentary to talk about the passion for live music.

English and Spanish with English subtitles.
