A small, intrepid band of six sailors heads into the North Atlantic from Halifax, Nova Scotia, on a 36-foot sloop bound for one of the ocean’s most remote and inaccessible islands, Sable Island.
Known as “The Graveyard of the Atlantic”, Sable Island is infamous for hundreds of shipwrecks over four centuries. The team’s archaeologists uncover Sable’s past amid a backdrop of endless sand dunes, ocean and wildlife, including wild horses, thousands of nesting birds and the world’s largest population of grey seals. A blend of contemporary video, historic film and stills reveals the magic and mystery of Sable.
