SHORT NARRATIVE

In this modern day silent comedy, an adorable little guy named DONOVAN goes on a shopping trip with his family and spots a pair of boots that he simply must have. After being told no, he throws an epic tantrum which results in him spending the summer learning a lesson he'll never forget...be careful what you ask for.

Director's Statement:

The Boots is a lighthearted comedy. But the reason behind its creation is much deeper. This film was created to reflect the positive image of a black family, specifically black males. In a time where African-American boys and men are often portrayed in such a negative light, we took this film as an opportunity to give the audience a glimpse into their lives to show that they are innocent, curious and playful just like any other child. They have families who love and support them. And, they are not something to be feared as they grow.

The filmmaker will attend the film screening.

In addition to our film's positive message, we are proud to have an all-female production team - first time Director, Leah Cohen-Mays; Director of Photography, Kathryn Brillhart; and producers Indira G.
