RIFLES AND ROSARY BEADS / U.S.A. / WORLD PREMIERE

RIFLES AND ROSARY BEADS is a short documentary about the power of turning trauma into art. The film documents the making of an album by the same name, written by Nashville-based (and Louisiana native) singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier along with combat veterans and their spouses at SongwritingWith:Soldiers retreats.

Over the last four years, Mary has worked closely with SongwritingWith:Soldiers, attending retreats all over the country and writing songs with service members. Writing with soldiers, Mary learned the deeper meaning of service, sacrifice, and love. Co-writing with Veterans has helped her to see what songs do on a higher level, and pointed her to the best use of her songwriting gift. This film documents this journey.

Nashville-based filmmakers Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard and singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier will attend the World Premiere screening of the film and participate in a discussion afterwards. Mary will also perform songs from the album Rifles and Rosary Beads, scheduled to be released on January 26, 2018.
