SHORT NARRATIVE

SHOOTING RANGES is the intimate portrait of a young woman who wants to leave the military town in which she grew up to pursue her own ambitions. It presents a strong female character who faces an environment where women and their dreams tend to disappear behind men and their military careers. The film is as much about broken love as it is a socio-political commentary on how military life impacts certain people who are usually left out of the conversation. Blending narrative fiction and archival military footage shot in Afghanistan by the director's father, SHOOTING RANGES is a universal story of independence and female identity in a world of men.
