"Bury The Hatchet" portrays three Big Chiefs of the New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian tradition: Monk Boudreaux, Big Chief Alfred Doucette, and Big Chief Victor Harris and his tribe Fi Yi Yi. In this documentary we witness them wake in the early hours of Mardi Gras morning to sew the finishing touches to their Indian suits before they and their tribes don their colorful clothing. We subsequently spend the entire day with the Chiefs as they make their respective routes through the neighborhoods of the city from the moment they leave the house in the morning until they come back in the evening. "Bury The Hatchet" is an intimate and fascinating look at one of America's enduring African-American cultural traditions and three of its most important practitioners.
