Be It Ever So Humble . . . There's No Place

Anthony Ladesich, Director

8:12 min. Black and white

Based on a reel to reel tape recording of a story published in 1953 by Charles C.B. Embree, a musician, songwriter, and accomplished painter who was stationed at a Naval base during WWII with the director's father, this film tells the story of the Ghost of Kansas City's past. It is a lament for the death of the great Jazz tradition of Kansas City. The director uses all of the audio recorded by Embree, combined with images shot at the Kansas City Mutual Musicians Jazz Union.
