2006 90 min.
This documentary film follows famed New Orleans composer/trumpeter Terence Blanchard as he performs on four continents with his band of young, engaging musicians. Filmed over an entire year, "Flow" documents the mentoring and growth of what many critics are calling one of the premiere jazz bands of our time, as they prepare and perform before sold-out audiences in Paris, Tokyo, Osaka, and Capetown, South Africa. Part travelogue, part concert, part engaging documentation of what it means to commit to a life in music, the film is a landmark educational film for young people -- and for anyone of any age facing the uncertain prospect of a career as a musician. This film was just recently selected into the grand prize competition for the Festival Internacional de Cine Documental Musical de Barcelona.
