SHORT NARRATIVE

OLD CROWS tells the story of Chuck, a cranky Vietnam veteran content to drink the days away until he meets a young writer named Roxanne who gives new purpose to his meager existence. Filmed at legendary New Orleans dive bar Snake & Jake's Christmas Club Lounge and featuring a soundtrack by American troubadour James Apollo, OLD CROWS is a study of regret, hope, and the sad beauty of broken things.

The filmmakers will attend the film screening.

Director's Bio

Jason Affolder was born in Vincennes, Indiana, the heart of the Midwest (if not the universe). After 18 years surrounded by cornfields, hog farms, and tornados, he finally fled out west to Los Angeles. His grandfather had taught him well how to make things up, and the film school at USC showed him how to turn those lies into a reality. After 4 years of terrible traffic and perfect weather, he missed afternoon thunderstorms too much to remain in L.A. Jason soon found himself living down in New Orleans, where he began teaching at a public high school, but when students starting showing up with handguns, he decided battling blazes might be a safer gig. And so for over 10 years Jason has been a New Orleans Firefighter, all the while traveling the globe and creating shorts, music videos, and feature films. He also has a black belt in karaoke.
