Shumshu / Japan / Louisiana Premiere

Late night, August 17, 1945.
As the Soviet forces began to land on Shumshu Island in preparation to release the Kuril Islands, the Japanese soldiers who received news of the end of hostilities were having a party and celebrating at their camp, thinking “This means we can go home to the mainland!”
