Director Biography

Raj’s first began his career as a producer; his first short film, MY ‘FRIEND’ MICK (directed by Ankush Jindal), played at Fantastic Fest and LA Shorts and was sold to ShortsTV in 2019. Raj’s second short KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK (directed by Sudhanshu Saria), world premiered at the Busan, won Best Screenplay at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), and was picked up by Mubi. Raj also produced THE REUNITED STATES (directed by Ben Rekhi), profiling the political and racial polarization happening in the US, which will be playing at Cinequest and the United Nations Film Festival in October 2020. Raj’s cannibal horror script VARNA HEIGHTS was selected as one of ten projects to be featured at the NFDC Co-Production Market at Film Bazaar in Goa in Nov 2019.

In 2020, Raj directed his first film PADMAVYUHA, an Indo-American mystery thriller rooted in Indian mythology. The film stars Nikhil Prakash, Ross Turner, and Pooja Batra.
