SHORT DOCUMENTARY

George Loli started painting and drawing at the early age of thirteen. By the time he was sixteen, he was making religious paintings and frescoes in churches and cathedrals in Syria. Loli moved to Florence, Italy where he began his studies in architecture, earning a Dottore in Architecture from the University of Florence, Italy, while at the same time attending drawing classes at the Accademia Di belle arte. After his studies in Italy were complete, Loli moved to New York City, where he worked for a year as an architectural designer before settling in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he taught at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette for 36 years in the Department of Architecture and Design, retiring in the summer of 2011. On December 28th, 2017, George Loli died, and this documentary short remembers him and his influence and documents his incredible talent and passion for architecture and teaching.
