Director Biography

Hanna Lane Miller is a documentary filmmaker from Collins, Mississippi. She lives and works between home and Oakland, CA. Hanna enjoys all parts of a good story and works as a film director, director of photography, and film editor. Hanna's had works that've been considered for Oscar nominations, won film festivals, and received support from the Tribeca Film Institute, the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, and the Bay Area Video Coalition. As a filmmaker and editor, Hanna considers herself a tool for community storytelling and seeks out tales about forgotten places, overlooked people, and untold experiences. Passionate about change and growth from within, she advocates for rural and Mississippi stories especially. Hanna's background is in Russian language, sexual assault crisis response, and poetry. She was a Fulbright scholar and has degrees from Mississippi School of the Arts, Sewanee: The University of the South, and Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism.
