Director Biography

Ben Shirinian is an award-winning writer, director, and producer. He wrote and directed the French short film JOSEF ET AIMEE starring Nolwenn Boutle and Kai Strothers which follows the story of two orphans in the south of France who are separated during the Nazi invasion. Ben is currently attached to direct the feature LAND OF DECORATION written by Andrew Lanham, adapted from the book by Grace McCleen. Gil Netter is producing.

Previously, Ben wrote and directed the film series LOST IN MOTION. He collaborated with The National Ballet of Canada and world-renowned ballet dancer and choreographer Guillaume Côté. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and garnered international media attention. Following the success of the first film, Ben completed LOST IN MOTION II, which won Best Cinematography at the Canadian Society of Cinematography (CSC) Awards and Best Editing at the AICE Awards.

Ben was also commissioned as a Multimedia Director for IMPERMANENCE, a new media ballet installation that premiered in Florence, Italy and a Visual Director for Handel’s opera ALCINA for Opera Atelier, in Toronto, Canada. He also served as agency Creative Lead for Sony PlayStation and led the campaign for the launch of PS3.
