FEATURE DOCUMENTARY

French documentary filmmaker and journalist Jean-Pierre Bruneau began documenting Louisiana's rich musical heritage in the 1970's. His classic film “Dedans le Sud de la Louisiane,” was the “first film to consider the music in terms of the culture, rather than the culture in terms of the music,” and is a “memorable experience, both musically and visually.” – Chris Smith (Blues & Rhythm).

Presently at work on a film on New Orleans music legend Fats Domino, Bruneau discusses his perspective as a Frenchman on “this mythical land, its people, their ancient French language” and, of course, the wonderful music – both its past and its future.

Mr. Bruneau’s presentation is made possible by the generous support of the French Embassy Office of Cultural Services in New York City and the Office of the Consul General of France in New Orleans.

At Vermilionville, Fri. Jan. 25th at 6:00 pm. $5, includes all Vue du bayou films and events.
