Director's Biography:

Laurence grew up in Saint-Eustache. After graduating from a D.E.C in communication-cinema at the Lionel-Groulx College in Sainte-Thérèse, she completed a certificate in screenwriting at Université du Québec à Montréal. Then, she moved to Nova Scotia to teach French to young high school students. Upon her return, she began her Bachelor's degree in cinema (UQAM) in the directing profile and graduated in spring 2017. During her studies, Laurence participated in several short films. In parallel, she volunteered for the community-based organization Suicide-Action Montreal, where she became involved with callers in suicidal crisis. Thanks to her diverse experiences in intervention, she makes sensitive films in which the human being is put forward. Moreover, Laurence is interested in the impact of the artistic process underlying documentary as a tool for social intervention. In the past, she has mostly turned to the documentary form to explore subjects that inhabit her, notably through the films King Size 25 and Modern Sins. She also took interest in fiction by scripting and directing the short film Fitted Sheet.
